The filing of the archive of Beijing Jiaotong University was started in the early days of the founding of the university, and developed in step with the development the university.

     In 1993, the university carried out its internal reforms, and founded the archive of Beijing Jiaotong University , a part of the president's office, which is based on the former comprehensive archive, personnel division, personal file archive and historical office.

     In December 1999, after the examination and assessment of the specialists group, the archive of Beijing Jiaotong is regarded as the second-ranking national unit of the target management of the archive work.

     Beijing Jiaotong University covers the area of 712 square kilometers, among which the storehouse covers 268 square kilometers, and the storehouse for personnel document 194.5 square kilometers.

     The archive of Beijing Jiaotong University has 44994 files for various documents at present, which includes document of personnel, party and politics, education, scientific research, infrastructure, equipments, finance and accounting, photos, and publishing. In 2001, Beijing Jiaotong University and Beijing Electronic Advanced Training School was merged into one, therefore, the archive of Beijing Jiaotong University took over the 200 files of teaching and administrative staff, and another 1710 files of students.
